Hi, I’m Alicia! My preferred name is Al (she/her). I’m a Professional Counselor (LPCC) and Registered Art Therapist (ATR). I began my educational journey in the Midwest obtaining a B.S. in Psychology and a B.A. in Fine Arts. I moved to Santa Fe in 2017 and received a Master of Arts degree from Southwestern College. I have worked with people from many different walks of life, including differently abled children, elderly, homeless youth, caregivers, and first responders. My focus for the last 5+ years has been with individuals managing their recovery from substances and rebuilding healthier ways of coping. My clients have called me the “coping skill queen” and I proudly wear that crown!
I have a strong background in art and believe it is an unsurpassable tool for a deeper sense of connection to oneself. And sometimes it’s just fun! The good in you may be nuanced in spite of any obstacles you have faced, but I am here to help you navigate as you drive down your road of recovery. By utilizing mindfulness-based stress reduction techniques to aid in regulation of the nervous system and solution-focused brief therapy to build resources, you can develop steps to grow – even if you don’t know where to start and just need a “time out.” Whether it be through art or traditional psychotherapy, I am a collaborator in your process.
My hope for you is that you can find joy in your life. I want nothing more than for you to find safe and meaningful connections throughout your time on this earth – especially with yourself. You deserve peace. You are already so brave. I offer you a judgement-free space to learn more about yourself. What is it that you want? Let’s go get it.
